Rita Canclini, Chief Ambassador
Rita Canclini is the owner of Higher Groundz Coffee on 1800
Grand Ave in Grover Beach, California. Her career in coffee began in 1997 in
the Sierra Foothills (Camino, CA) where she took a job as a barista at Camino
Coffee House. After seventeen
years of being a stay at home mom and home schooling her four children, it was
the beginning of her second career. Shortly after moving with her husband and
family from Camino to the Central Coast in 2003, she resumed her coffee career
with Hunter’s Landing Coffee. She progressed from barista to assistant manager
to manager to area manager of the company’s seven locations throughout the
Central Coast. In 2006 she struck
out on her own as a consultant to local, independent coffee shops. She trained owners and their staff on
the fundamentals of producing perfect coffee and making each customer feel
special. In July 2007 she
purchased Higher Groundz Coffee in Grover Beach where she has further developed
her managing, marketing, leadership and training skills while maintaining her
passion for excellent coffee and customer service. Under her leadership Higher
Groundz has tripled its daily sales in a down economy. Her next goal is to open
a second, larger café with plenty of seating for friends to relax and enjoy one
of life’s great pleasures.
